About Us

WHERE DOES THE NAME WAFFLEMEISTER COME FROM AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Meister is derived from the Latin word "magister" which translates into English as a teacher. In Germany and Austria the word is a title that in the crafts guilds and it is used to distinguish someone who has undergone extensive training and shown dedication to become a Meister. An example would be a Swiss watchmaker who has demonstrated his craft and skills by making exemplary watches. We at Wafflemeister honour this code of honour and our team members go through extensive training themselves and only when they have passed our Wafflebaking exams will they become Wafflemeisters.

WHERE ARE YOUR WAFFLES AND GELATO FROM?

Our dough of our Liege waffles is handmade using a secret family recipe that dates back to the 1950s. Each dough ball is lovingly made in Belgium. Our Italian style ice cream is made using an Italian recipe and each tube is handfilled.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR COFFEE?

As with our waffles, gelato and thick shakes we also take great pride in making great tasting coffee. How do we do that? Well we started off by selecting great coffee beans such as Illy to ensure we have a consistent bland made using some of the best coffee beans available. We then add a minimum of 2 weeks of barista training which includes product knowledge and lots and lots of equipment training and micro foaming techniques!
